Like renting a car from a standard depot, collecting a hire car from an airport is fairly simple, however there are some extra points worth considering:
Airport rentals tend to be in high demand. With this in mind, it’s a good idea to book your hire car well in advance to avoid missing out. This is especially the case during peak travel seasons.
When returning the car to the airport, be sure to allow enough time to drop off the car and get to the terminal. This is particularly important if you use an off-airport depot, as the terminal most likely will not be within walking distance.
It may be more expensive to rent a car from the airport rather than a suburban depot. This is due to extra charges associated with airport rentals — and this is why we list off-airport depots as well, they may well be cheaper.
If you know you’ll be late, you should contact your rental provider to let them know.
You’ll need to supply your flight details when booking your hire car. This allows the rental provider to track any flight delays and to make sure a staff member is on site to look after you when you arrive.
Airport depots do tend to have a good range of vehicles, but if you’re after a very specific — or specialised — vehicle, it may be worth checking availability at off-airport and city-depots as well.
