How do I pick up a rental car at Perth Airport?
Perth Airport comprises two international terminals (T1 and T3), four domestic terminals (T1, T2, T3 and T4) and a General Aviation terminal. Terminals 1 and 2 are located in one area to the east of the runways, and Terminals 3, 4 and General Aviation are to the west and north respectively of the runways. These two terminal complexes are separated by a 15-minute drive, linked together by a free terminal transfer bus.
Depending on the carrier, international flights may use Terminal 1 or 2, while domestic flights can use any of the four, plus the General Aviation area, and much will depend on your carrier. For domestic flights, you could be using any of the four terminals, while if you are flying Cobham, Maroomba, and Skippers, you will be using the General Aviation terminal, though note Qantas may also use this terminal for some flights. If you are flying domestically from Perth Airport, it is important that you check with your airline beforehand to find out which terminal you should go to.

Once you are at the hire car company desk, you’ll need to finalise your rental agreement and collect your vehicle keys.

The on-airport rental cars for Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, Sixt and Thrifty are located a short distance outside each terminal.
Off airport
Shuttle bus to hire car depot.
What should I do if the desk is unattended?
Hopefully the car rental company has left a sign with instructions or a contact number. In this situation, use the number they have provided and let them know that you have arrived or follow the directions out to the car park where a rental attendant will help you.
If there is no sign, check your booking confirmation email for a contact phone number.
If you still have no luck with making contact, call us at 1300 722 920 and consider heading to the parking area and look for uniformed staff. Don’t be alarmed. It’s not unusual to see unmanned rental desks, but rest assured there’s usually help out in the car park where the rentals are located.
Returning a hire car at Perth Airport
Terminal 1 and 2
Follow the car rental return signs and access the car park by taking the slip road on the right of Airport Drive.
For after-hours returns, there is a key dropbox at the terminal car park booth. Please lock your car and deposit the car keys in the dropbox.
If you hired your car from No Birds, return the vehicle to their depot located 172 Kewdale Road, Kewdale.
Terminal 3 and 4
Follow the signs, and return your car hire, at the car park entry located on Miller Rd.
For after-hours returns, there is a key dropbox at the terminal car park booth. Please lock your car and deposit the car keys in the dropbox.
If you hired your car from No Birds, return the vehicle to their depot located 172 Kewdale Road, Kewdale.
Perth Airport orientation
While Perth Airport has five terminals, these are grouped into three areas. Terminals 1 and 2, Terminals 3, 4, and the General Aviation area. These areas are located on the east, west, and north of the airport respectively and are connected by a free inter-terminal shuttle bus service which departs every 20 minutes and takes about 15 minutes.
The three terminal complexes are not walking distance from one another, although Terminals 1 and 2 are walking distance from one another, as are Terminals 3 and 4. You need to use the shuttle service to reach the General Aviation area from any of the other terminals.
Transfers between Domestic T2 and T3 Terminals
For transfers between domestic terminals 2 and 3, the terminals are walking distance apart and a pedestrian route is clearly marked.
On-airport pickup at Terminal 2 and 3
Where are the on-airport hire car desks?
There are hire car rental desks located in both Terminal 2 and 3. You will need to present at these desks to finalise your rental agreement and notify them that you are ready to be collected by their shuttle to the hire car parking.
Terminal 2
The hire desks are located in between the baggage reclaim points 4 and 5.
The Sydney domestic airport is currently rebuilding their on-airport car park, and during its construction car hire is temporarily located off-terminal. Demolition of the car park is expected to be completed around mid 2024. Transport to the parking locations is provided by shuttle bus. Don’t forget to check in at the rental desks and get your car keys before you jump on a shuttle! Please allow approximately 30 minutes for the shuttle transfer.
Avis, Budget, Hertz, Thrifty
Car hire desks for these providers are temporarily located on Ross Smith Avenue in the South East Sector. To get to the shuttle collection point in either Terminal 2 or 3, head to the kerbside collection point.
Alamo, Enterprise
The rental desks for these providers are temporarily located at 7 Coleman Street, Mascot, which is 1.5km away from the terminal. To get to the shuttle collection point in either Terminal 2 or 3, head to the kerbside collection point.
Sixt
Sixt are located in the airport’s international precinct. Transfer to the international terminal are available via Sydney Airport’s free terminal transfer shuttle service, called T-Bus. How to find T-Bus
