For those who are used to parking signs in Australia, it's easier to understand them, however, these signs can be quite misleading. Take a look below to see a breakdown of some of the most unique parking signs in Australia.
In order to understand parking signs, it's important to break down them down into their elements:
What does the P mean? This is how many hours you can park in the designated area. For example, if the signs say 3P, you can park in that area for 3 hours.
What does Ticket mean? This means that you will need to pay for parking in this area. There will be a parking meter that you need to use or alternatively there may be an App you can download.
What does the arrow mean? This specifies which direction these rules apply to. If you take a look below at the infographic you will see two different examples of parking signs. In these signs, some of the arrows point right, left or both ways. If you see one of these signs, it will show you which direction the rules apply.
Can I park in a loading zone? No, you can’t. When the area is a loading zone, you are not able to park there. If it is outside of these times you can, depending on the other parking details.
Can I park in a bus zone? Similar to loading signs, you can not park in the bus zone. Take a look at the parking times outside of the zone to see when you are able to park in this area.
Aside from how long you can park somewhere and the time frame, take note of the days in which you can park and see if this has any effect on when you are able to be there.
