Road trips in the Australian Capital Territory

When it comes to Australia’s capital city of Canberra, a road trip might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you’re looking for holiday inspiration, but this couldn’t be further from the truth.

The territory might be relatively small and landlocked, but there is plenty to see and do within a few hours of the capital. In fact, with as little as three hours you could find yourself cooling off in the Australian Alps, or, if you head east, exploring the beautiful beaches of the southern New South Wales Coast. Of course, if you’re not a resident of the ACT, there’s the attractions of the capital itself — they’re well and truly worth driving to.

Canberra also makes a handy add-on for those driving from Sydney to Melbourne (or visa versa), while within the state, Namadgi National Park and the associated Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve are favourites among nature-lovers in the know.
